How does it work?Protector runs as a background service consuming negligible amount of memory and passively waits for start of protected applications. Once user clicks an icon to start such application, full-screen window is shown on top, asking for a password. If user clicks Cancel or anyhow closes the window, protected application is immediately sent to background to make sure that it can't be used without a password. When the password is asked? Protector asks you for a password unpon start of any protected application. After that, all applications become unlocked unitl you lock the screen. Keyguard or unlock pattern remain unchanged To re-enable locking you can click on the notification in statusbar. Next version will include configurable timeout and per-application passwords for even better security. What to do if I forgot my password? Not a problem! During the setup you should specify recovery email - password reset code sent there on request.Anyway, factory reset can remove all installed applications and the data (including Protector and all stored gmail data, for example.) First of all, it annoys users. But even more important: it constantly slows down your phone, wasting your time and battery! For example, you could find clones of this original app in Market with Ads and wierd background images - they consume significantly more memory and will slow down your phone. Another important apsect is Internet access. When you install Protector, you might see that it requests very few permissions, not including internet access and your location tracking. I am sure that security-related applications which know your passwords must not track your location and send all this data to Internet. Beware of malicious apps! If you can't find answer to your question here, please ask me directly. Don't post questions as a comments on Market, because developers can't answer them. |
